The ECtools software code is a standalone post processor for Scia Engineer which utilises the analysis capabilities of Scia Engineer in order to design R/C buildings according to Eurocodes EC2 and EC8

ECtools can be used in following cases:

  • Seismic design of Reinforced Concrete Buildings
  • Checking/Reviewing the Design of Reinforced Concrete Buildings
  • Seismic Assessment and Retrofitting of existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings
  • Seismic design of Composite buildings with Concrete Cores
  • Seismic design of Unreinforced Masonry Buildings
  • Seismic Assessment and Retrofitting of existing Unreinforced Masonry Buildings

ECtools Basic

ECtools Basic provides full design procedure according to EC2 and EC8 and has all the features to design a new R/C Building with or without complex cores.

It includes:

  • Design of R/C linear elements
  • Design of R/C shell elements for walls
  • Separate editor for RC walls which includes all the specific characteristics (edge columns, minimum dimensions etc)
  • Section designer NOUS that permits the design of arbitrary complex R/C wall or column sections using Scia Engineer analysis results
  • Current European Concrete and Seismic code (EC2 and EC8)
  • Shear capacity design
  • Joints capacity design
  • Torsional response checks
  • Check for avoiding capacity design of joints
  • Storey displacements and drifts checks
  • Calculation of seismic joint with adjacent buildings
  • Check for P-δ effects

ECtools Advanced includes ECtools Basic’s features plus more.

It includes:

ECtools Masonry (URM) is limited to the design of unreinforced and rehabilitated masonry structures.

It includes:

  • Unreinforced or Reinforced masonry wall design (shell elements) according to EC6.
  • Section designer NOUS that permits the design of arbitrary complex R/C wall or column sections using Scia Engineer's analysis results.
  • Design of rehabilitated R/C or masonry sections with separate materials for the core existing section and the mantel section.
